Dr. Jason James, M.D. is a board certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist who has extensive experience in the treatment of eating disorders, psychosomatic conditions, trauma, addiction and mood and anxiety disorders. Dr. James also specializes in the treatment of high performance athletes and is the psychiatrist for the Houston Rockets. He is skilled in the pharmacological treatments of psychiatric disorders and has advanced training in multiple modalities of psychotherapy. Dr. James has a myriad of leadership and work experience in settings that have included emergency departments, residential treatment centers and outpatient programs. Currently, in addition to maintaining his private practice, Dr. James is the Director of Child and Adolescent Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at The University of Texas Health Science Center. He holds academic appointments as an Assistant Professor at McCombs Medical School with UTHealth and Adjunct Professor at Baylor College of Medicine.
Dr. James was born and raised in Houston, Texas and attended the Business Honors Program at The University of Texas at Austin. Following graduation, Dr. James volunteered abroad and then began his medical studies at Ross University School of Medicine. He completed his clinical sciences in New York City and went on to train in psychiatry at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and completed his fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
